Recently, Patti Cahill, our librarian took the fourth grade class on a field trip to the Faulkner Hospital. Bruce from the Respiratory Department at Faulkner Hospital spoke to the children about the hazards of smoking. There they got the chance to see and touch the lungs of a pig, both healthy and diseased. Because the lungs of a pig are identical to a human lung, the students learned first hand how smoking severely damages our body. This was an opportunity that the students all agree they won’t forget!
Here are some photos of our fourth graders investigating the pig’s lungs.
