Happy New Year!
After a restful break, we want to welcome students and families back to school. We are looking forward to a meaningful and productive 2013!
1. BPS Enrollment Information
To all families hoping to secure a K1 spot for a younger sibling, please make sure to enter your child’s name in the first round of applications in January. If you wait, you may lose the seat.
As many of you already know, due to the high number of siblings, not all prospective k1 students will be given a seat next fall. Do not hesitate to contact Mr. D’ablemont Burnes at 617-635-8102, with any questions or concerns.
For further information on the application process, please contact the West Zone Family Resource Center at 617 635 8040 or click Family Resource Center6th Grade Enrollment All fifth grade Manning students will receive Assignment Applications to take home from their school. Parent/guardians should rank the schools on this application and return the completed application to their student’s school. BPS students who are moving on to Grade 6 will be given their Assignment Application in January. BPS students who are moving on to another grade that is not provided at their current school, including AWC-eligible students, will be given Assignment Applications in February.
2. Player of the Week – December
Due to winter break and the holidays, we had just one player of the week for the month of December.
Ayisha from 4th grade was awarded Player of the Week for making the
core value Healthy Play happen for her class and the school. While
Ayisha has always shown excellent sporting behavior during class game
time and recess, she especially has worked hard to increase her
participation in activities recently. It makes a big difference when
all students come out of their shell to play hard and have fun.
Thanks, Ayisha! Keep it up!

5. January’s Genre Challenge is Realistic Fiction
The challenge is to have the students read at least three books each month of that particular genre. Once they have finished reading a book, each classroom teacher has a small form that the student has to fill out with their name, title of the book, genre title, grade, and a brief summary of the book.
When the form is filled out, they bring it to Ms. Cahill before the end of the month
