1.  Run for Recess

0001ebThe Playworks 5K Run for Recess & 1-Mile Fun Run is on May 4th in Moakley Park.

Registration forms have been passed out to all students.If you do not have a registration form, download one here

Forms and the suggested minimum donation of $25 cash or check made payable to the Manning School should be turned in to Ms. Cheryl.

All donations go directly to the school to help pay for Playworks in the 2013-2014 school year. Sponsorships are available for families who need them.

Please register soon to make sure Coach Mika gets pied when we reach our goal of 45 participants!

2. We Need Burger Slam Volunteers and Donations

This year’s Second Annual Burger Slam will be held on Saturday night, June 8th at Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain.  The event will be open to the public and tickets will soon be available online and at school.  We will host a silent auction to help fund programming and enrichment – we need your help to make it a success!   Some Ideas:

3. Cambridge Science Festival

April 12-21, 2013

The Cambridge Science Festival, the first of its kind in the United States, is a celebration showcasing the leading edge in science, technology, engineering and math. A multifaceted, multicultural event every spring, the Cambridge Science Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun!

 

4.  April Genre Challenge is Picture Books

images (1)There are picture books for all ages!  These picture books can be Fiction, Biographies, Poetry, Mysteries, Fairy Tales, there are endless possibilites.

The challenge is to have the students read at least three books each month of that particular genre. Once they have finished reading a book, each classroom teacher has a small form that the student needs to fill out with their name, title of the book, genre title, grade, and a brief summary of the book.
